Why I built Restory
Hi, I am Pau Pidelaserra. I am an iOS developer based in Barcelona, Spain, and I am the person behind Restory.
Every family I know has a box somewhere — an attic, a closet, a drawer — filled with old photographs slowly fading out of existence. Physical photos don't survive without care. Paper yellows, emulsion peels, scratches accumulate. The people in those photos, and the moments they captured, are slipping away.
Professional photo restoration costs 50 to 500 EUR per image — out of reach for most families with a full archive to preserve. The AI technology to do this well has existed for a few years, but the apps that used it were built on aggressive weekly subscription models that treated photo restoration like a utility you rent forever.
Most people restore 10-20 photos from their family archive and then stop. A weekly subscription makes no sense for that use case. I built Restory with a coin-based pricing model so you pay once, use the coins when you need them, and they never expire. If you restore a full album and then don't touch the app for a year, you pay nothing more.
Restory launched on the App Store in February 2026 with six AI features — face restoration, colorization, scratch removal, enhancement, generative fill, and portrait animation — localized in 32 languages. Every decision in the app, from pricing to privacy, is shaped by what I wish existed when I first tried to restore my grandparents' wedding photos.

What Restory actually does
Restory is an iOS app that combines six specialized AI models, each trained for a specific restoration task. The app sends a single photo to our cloud infrastructure, runs it through the appropriate model, and returns the restored image to your device — typically in under 30 seconds.
- FacesReconstructs facial detail on blurred or damaged portraits.
- ColorizeAdds historically plausible colors to black-and-white photos.
- ScratchesRemoves physical damage like scratches, stains, creases, and tears.
- EnhanceSharpens and upscales images up to 4x while adding real detail.
- RecreateGenerative fill for missing corners or torn sections.
- Bring to LifeAnimates still portraits into short videos with subtle natural motion.
What we believe
Your photos stay yours
Photos are processed in memory on our servers and deleted within 24 hours. We never train our models on user photos without explicit consent.
Pay once, use when you need
Coin-based pricing. No weekly subscriptions. Coins never expire. The annual plan exists for heavy users; the coin packs exist for everyone else.
Honest results
AI restoration is plausible reconstruction, not perfect reproduction. We are clear about what the technology can and cannot do. The goal is to help you reconnect with memories, not to replace truth.
